ARC KSS Research Symposium

Dr Orrow was the key note speaker at the Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) Kent Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Symposium at the University of Surrey September 12th 2024. Dr Orrow introduced Growing Health Together and spoke of her journey from her academic beginnings to work as a GP, to leaving her academic career to try and implement what she had learnt through her research within the community she was serving as a GP. This video demonstrates the conception and evolution of Growing Health Together.

Understanding the Impact and Implementation of Growing Health Together

We are very pleased to present the final evaluation report into Growing Health Together funded by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Applied Research Collaboration Kent, Surrey and Sussex. The report describes how we are building a sustainable health community in East Surrey and presents in-depth data analysis, both quantitative and qualitative to demonstrate the central theme ‘the golden thread’ which underpins the ethos and the heart of Growing Health Together.

Webinar on Evaluation report on Growing Health Together

To complement the evaluation report, we held a live webinar which featured both co-founders of GHT, Dr Gillian Orrow and Katherine Saunders (CEO of Alliance for Better Care), alongside Senior Researcher Dr Sarah Hotham and members of the community who are involved with GHT who discussed the approach and the impact of GHT.

Making A Positive Impact on People’s Health and Wellbeing

The NHS Confederation have written an in-depth analysis on Growing Health Together. Incorporating short stories to demonstrate how we are improving public health outcomes using place based approaches to address the underlying causes of ill-health.

Growing Health Together featured in Financial Times

We are absolutely delighted to be featured in the Financial Times. The article emphasises the importance of a bottom-up approach to health care, featuring quotes from Dr Orrow, Lord Nigel Crisp, Emmanuel Idajili (Creative Arts Youth project), Mari Roberts-Wood (Reigate and Banstead Borough Council Managing Director) and attendees of Men in Sheds. This article beautifully summarises the work we are doing whilst recognising how it perfectly aligns with the growing shifting outlook of preventing health conditions rather than treating them and even posing the question, can the work we are doing help save the NHS?

Neighbourhood working in Action – NHS Confed.

Growing Health Together are excited to have been featured as a case study within an NHS Confederation report. The report details the ongoing Growing Health Together story, demonstrating the work that we have done in Neighbourhoods, from conception to now, and how we have taken a different approach and a new model to support community-led health creation and improvements in clinical care, through connecting primary care with community members and partners at a neighbourhood level.

Future of Primary Care: Conversation with Dr Gillian Orrow

Dr Gillian Orrow was interviewed by East London Foundation NHS Trust, Executive Director, Dr. Mohit Venkataram about her pioneering work in advancing Primary Care. Demonstrating using real life examples of how treating health can be done differently and how it has a real tangible, cost effective benefit, Dr Orrow provides listeners with inspiration and learning.
