Horley Health Hub Community Garden A large space behind the Horley Health Hub is being transformed into a community garden by a team of willing and energetic volunteers, supported by Dr Michael Bosch, Caroline Upton, and RJ Heron from the Alliance for Better Care.

Launching in spring 2022 it will provide the local community with a wonderful outdoor space.

The team of volunteers have come together to clear the ground of brambles and other weeds and arrange for overgrown trees to be cut down. New fencing will make the space secure, the existing shed will be refurbished, and then the garden will be designed and created.

Explains RJ: “Once the groundwork is finished, we’ll be building some raised beds for vegetable growing, including some which are accessible for wheelchair users, and working with a local school to run a competition to design areas of the garden.

“It’s a blank canvas at the moment and a really exciting project and we feel we’re building a community spirit in this outdoor space.”

Future plans include an outdoor meeting space, a repair café in the shed for local residents to bring along things to be mended, and education sessions on healthy living and sustainability. An indoor space will also be made available for activities such as yoga.
